Ashok – Havering Volunteer Centre
This is Ashok. He has volunteered in Havering for the ten years and has been a regular volunteer with Havering Volunteer Centre for the last 7 years.
Ashok is a wonderful volunteer who has also served in the Indian Army before coming to the UK to be with his extended family members.
There isn’t a volunteering role that Ashok hasn’t turned his hand to; he has been an event marshal on many occasions and now volunteers as an admin volunteer at Havering Volunteer Centre.
“There are 2 main reasons why I volunteer; when I came to the UK I wanted to understand the culture and people and felt that volunteering would give me a wide range of experiences.
The second reason was that I wanted to give something back and to feel part of the community”
