At London’s Lifelines, we have been appalled by the violence that is being used to terrorise communities. We stand with all our friends – London’s charities, community and faith groups – against racism, Islamophobia and hatred.
We know that across our capital, people have joined forces to show solidarity for all the communities affected by recent events. These events remind us how deeply we are all connected and united against a hateful few.
As we all work towards an inclusive London, here are 5 ways you can show your support.
Volunteer to support your local community
We have seen such heartwarming positive reactions to recent hate and violence. People naturally want to stand together in the places they live, work, socialise and worship.
Volunteering can be a great way of showing support for your local community too.
Contact your local Volunteer Centre to find volunteering roles in your local area.
Volunteer to support faith groups and refugee charities
Faith based organisations and refugee support services may need more support during this time.
Your local Volunteer Centre will be able to advise you which organisations in your area need extra volunteers or help at the moment.
Inspire others to volunteer
At this time, we realise how important our communities are.
By sharing your volunteering story, you could inspire others to get involved in their local neighbourhood.

Look after your own wellbeing
The past few weeks has been tough and it’s important you look after your own wellbeing.
You may want to take a break from the news, or perhaps reach out to friends or family.
Volunteering is great for your wellbeing too, it feels good to do something positive, particularly when the world seems so troubled, plus it can make you feel more connected to others.
