Amy – RNLI Volunteer Fundraising Branch Chair for Twickenham, Teddington and District
I grew up on the south coast, and I have always been well aware of the amazing work the RNLI lifeboat crews do. After moving to London, I discovered there were lifeboat stations on the Thames, so I decided to take on this volunteering opportunity.
As Fundraising Branch Chair, I coordinate a local fundraising team of volunteers and help raise vital funds for the charity. We work across Twickenham, Teddington, and District, running various events and activities, collaborating with local businesses and individuals who want to support us, and educating people about water safety.
I volunteer because I believe in the importance of the RNLI’s mission of saving lives at sea and on the Thames, and because it allows me to meet new people. Given that we work close to Teddington Lifeboat Station, which I often visit, I learnt much more about what the lifeboat crew do and their rescues, and that motivates me to continue my fundraising efforts. I have made some great friends too!
