Volunteers – Chart Big Local, Lewisham
Chart Big Local are always on the look out to expand their volunteer group and there are many different ways you can get involved, for instance; working with the food bank, helping at nature club in the park, helping organise and set up community events.
Chart Big Local are currently looking for volunteers to help set up and register users, helping with food selection, chatting with users and clearing up. This role is on Wednesday mornings, based in WE Grace Community Centre, SE9 4HG. Find out more here!
Good Food Lewisham is calling for Volunteers to help at Lewisham’s food projects.
Lewisham has been highly affected by Britain’s greatest food price inflation in 50 years, containing the second highest percentage of food poverty in South London (News Shopper, 2023). In a borough where 1 in 5 residents are food insecure, free and low-cost food is in high demand.
Lewisham is fortunate to have a well-formed network of community food projects involved in Good Food Lewisham, which are mapped and supported by the Lewisham Local team. Most of these projects, however, are run by and largely rely on volunteers, which have steadily decreased as food prices rise. To keep providing food aid support, they need your help!
Offering time and skills is more accessible than ever thanks to our connected network of projects and Lewisham Local’s centralised volunteering hub. Founder of Lewisham Community Club Alexandra McMillan says, “Volunteers are a huge part of the Legendary community, and it’s because of volunteers we can provide food aid support to our community. We have built a caring community the last couple of years, creating a team of Legends to support each other, and we need more volunteers at the core of our community.” To find out more about volunteering for Good Food Lewisham, email: volunteering@lewishamlocal.com
