DilDil volunteers
DilDil CIC is a community organisation in Bloomsbury supporting unaccompanied refugees from Eritrea and Ethiopia. Their mission is to help young Eritrean and Ethiopian refugees in North London learn how to trust, smile, and hope again. They provide culturally sensitive support, mentorship, and safe spaces free from political and religious divides and ensure that young refugees feel heard, valued, and empowered to build their future.
They run trauma-informed swimming sessions, alongside weekly football, wellbeing workshops, mentoring and cultural activities.
On 12th September 2025, the Community Welcome & Celebration brought together young people, families, neighbours and supporters in Bloomsbury for an evening of music, food and cultural activities. The Eritrean/Ethiopian coffee ceremony filled the venue with the smell of freshly roasted beans and frankincense, creating a warm, familiar atmosphere.
Thanks to volunteers and staff, the space felt welcoming and volunteers supported set-up, served food, translated and guided activities, ensuring everyone felt included.
