Patrick – Havering Volunteer Centre
This is Patrick – Watch the video below discover his full story.
“Since registering with Havering volunteer centre, they have given me the opportunity to support such great causes for my local community, like volunteering with them at the Afghan donation site, Hornchurch vaccination site, and even volunteering as a digital champion to help train people to use technology and learn how to book sessions at their local Everyone Active site online.
“For me, volunteering is a great way to help the local community and I have met so many like-minded people and made good friends out of it, which is just what the doctor ordered; after being in lockdown for so long, my mental health took a hit.
“I have even got my neighbour involved who saw how much I was enjoying it. She was battling with her own anxieties with a fear of going back to work. She too now feels the benefit of volunteering and has said it is definitely helping her as a disabled person.
“I never knew if I could volunteer, but I’m so glad I tried. The Havering volunteer centre have been fantastic. You can manage your own hours go at your own pace with as many breaks as you need no pressure at all. I encourage anyone who can volunteer to do so.”
