Team London Ambassadors
The Team London Ambassador programme has grown from strength to strength since its inception during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The programme mobilises volunteers from across London, the UK, and sometimes further to support major London events and also to collaborate with other organisations in the delivery of important strategic emergency activities across the city.
“Absolutely loved being part of this program. Met great people, answered a lot of questions and learned more about London along the way. Thank you very much for giving me this opportunity 🙂 !”

The Team London Visitor Welcome Ambassadors are the welcoming face of London, providing visitors with accurate and timely information at tourist hot spots during the busiest months of the year. Every year since 2012, hundreds of Team London Ambassadors show the world the best our city has to offer.
Thousands of volunteers have participated in the programme throughout the years from every part of society, age group, background and ability.

In Summer 2023, 300 + volunteers dedicated over 5000 hours across seven tourist locations for the six busiest weeks of the summer. Team London Ambassadors engaged with over 38000 visitors.
In March 2017, the Team London Ambassador Visitor Welcome programme won the Tourism Society Award, which recognises outstanding contributions to the development and success of the tourism industry in the UK.
Applications for volunteers to join 2024 programme closed in April. Over 400 volunteers will be deployed across five key locations; Parliament Square, Piccadilly Circus, St James Park, Exhibition Road and Greenwich, between 8 – 26 August.
It is impossible to know how many members of the public Team London Ambassadors have engaged with over all the ‘Visitor Welcome’ programmes since 2012, but working on an average taken from previous years, the number is likely to be well in excess of half a million visitors.

“Just a line to say how impressed we were with the [volunteers] operating the visitor query kiosk outside The Globe Theatre. They were a credit to your scheme and presented a really positive image of the capital”
